Carburator Base Plate Replacement
I own a 1969, manual trans, L46, 350 w/350 hp, no air. For several years I had an idle down problem. Had to tap the accelerator to get it to idle down. Lars gave me a tip to attached the return spring forward of the carb and it worked like a charm. Rebuilt the engine recently with all new parts to include roller cam and roller rocker arms and more. The carb has idle down issues. It is original and I want to keep it. I can press the throttle manually closed and it idles down. Removed carb and base plate from it. Primary plates were causing a slight resistance not allowing throttle rest. They were bent. Put them in a press to flatten them and on the bench, they closed fine without and detectable resistance. Put it all back togetherand once the engine was hot, throttle wouldn't settle to idle unless I manually pushed it back. Could feel the resistance.
Bottom line, I want to replace the base plate only which contains both the primary and secondary plates with a brand new assembly. I want the best. Any suggestions?
