I'm shortly going to be buying my first Vette (yipppee) HELP!
I've got my eye on a '77 T-top, base engine, 4 speed. Car is very very clean, but the mileage (<50,000) is questionable. This car will be a daily driver.
Questions:
Any idea on value for such a car? Asking price is something less than $8K, which seems okay, but opinions as to reasonable range for this car would be appreciated.
Any "issues" with '77's that I should be aware of.
I live in Wisconsin and we get a fair amount of snow here. Do Vettes do well in winter or will I need to buy a winter car?

The price is avrage for a driver as for snow and ice I think it does ok for rear wheel drive just find some good all season or snow tires for winter. The thing to remember is your buying a car that is over twenty years old and will need more repairs to keep it running well.Clue if you park it out side in snow and ice cover the door latches or your not getting back in untill spring.

congrats on the Vette Fever....but the price is a bit high for a L-48 being that its in Wisconsin also...I got mine last summer for $5,500.
not sure what condition yours looks like for exterior and interior, plus check the frame, as the previous owners may have driven it 'year-round' also...remember we got salt on roads...mine is a toy, hence it doesnt see rain, much less snow. And previous owner flet that way also...my frame is solid.
If your keeping it bone stock, throw weight in back, put thinner tires on and winter driving should be no problem. But your going to get the upgrade-bug, trust me. If I tried driving mine in slick weather, I would spin all over....heck I do now on corners and after a gear change in the rear-end and stall I don't expect driving straight to happen often either

Don't know much about the snow, only rain where I live. Sounds like a decent price, but be a tough sell, and try and talk the guy down so you can have some extra cash for all the parts you are going to want to buy :yesnod:

The front spoiler makes an excellent snow plow until it gets ripped off. Also posi-tracs like to swap ends on icy roads. I drive mine year round, but then I'm an idiot.
