Default GM Top Engine Cleaner vs. Sea foam?

While working on my afterfire last weekend.. I noticed the vacuum off the manifold was erratic. With help of another forum member here, I am guessing it is a sticky valve. Engine appears to run fine, but I want to see if I can get the problem straightened out to get a good vacuum,

Any opinions of GM TEC vs. Sea foam out there? I suspect this is some carbon build up due to low use over the years. (10-20k miles since 1972)

the sea foam is easier to obtain and may be less costly. I'd use either one

I fixed some sticking valves on a 200k mile V6 Camaro with a can of engine flush, ran it for 10 min at idle and then drained the oil. It made a big difference. I have never had much luck with Seafoam.

They are about the same thing.

What worked for sticky lifters many yrs ago was tossing some trans fluid in the motor on top of the oil fill and run it for a few minutes then dump.

You maybe right. I stopped by the chevy dealer today, and they have stopped stocking this.

transmission fluid worked great for me. Added a quart and drove 20 miles or so. It fixed my noisy lifter. I didn't see any results when I used the seafoam.

for a stuck lifter, yes transmission fluid is a tried and true method. the seafoam should do better on a valve sticking and wont leave an oily residue on your intake.

Sea Foam spray seemed to help.. a little jiggle on the vacuum gauge. it was swinging around 4-5 hg before application

Just used the sea foam on my 79 and it really cleaned up the "sound" of the engine. It appears to run quite a bit smoother. Nasty smelling stuff when you use it and it creates quite a bit of smoke putting it in. Do it outside and alert the neighbors not to call the fire department.
