Slip yoke question
Not a vette question but hopefully it should apply.. I have a M22 in my 69 chevelle that I have been chasing a driveline vibration in since I purchased it. The car has a brand new m22 the slip yoke seems to be loose in the tranny it has play up and down and side to side in the yoke. When I compared to the yoke in the vette's turbo 400 which was rock solid. So I marked the yoke with the car sitting on the wheels and then pulled the driveshaft. The barrel on my yoke is only 3 3/4 inches long with 1 inch outside of the tranny and only 2 3/4 inches in the tranny itself... It appears that the yoke could be almost 5 inches long before it got anywhere near where the speedo gear is. If I slide the yoke in about 3/4 of an inch it gets a lot more tight and has very little play. it does not appear to show any wear so is the yoke I have to short if so how long shoudl it be?
