If I get an 880 casting motor what problems will I have using the stock heads and with new flat tap valve train. Was looking to order one of the pro kits from summit but will it work with this block and what I'm trying to do. The reason I'm asking is I can pick up the block already machined for cheap. Working on a 78 corvette.

The 880 casting is a one piece rear mains seal block but with a different rear seal adp. you can run the older cranks.
The older heads will bolt on those block with out any problems.
Your flywheel will not work with a 1 piece rear seal crank.
350 w/ '78 heads ... '78 heads probably about 76cc ... suggest do Not install flattops ... but instead install small dome such as sealed power H618 with positive +3.5cc dome volume.
make sure THAT 880 block has a fully machined & tapped fuel pump boss with hole for fp rod
880 should be ready for OE roller cam ... suggest do that
