I need a little extra clearance for a new intake (RPM airgap or Team G- still undecided).
I'm thinking about picking up this hood off Craigslist- the guy says its for a 79 Vette, but he doesn't know the manufacturer. Can anyone ID it, and (more importantly), if it fits a 79, will it fit an 80? THX in advance.
It's hard to say what brand that is. Ecklers makes a Twin Turbo hood like that, could be some other manufacturer though. I can see the mounting on the underside photo, the hood will fit a 77 to 82 C3.
It looks like an Ecklers hood.
Do you see the little square tag on the underside of the hood, by the MSD sticker.
That tag and the red underside is very similar to the hood that I got from Ecklers.

If it's the same as your hood do you have any idea how much extra clearance you have over a stock hood?
I have a similar hood, was sold to me as an Ecklers but has no markings.
You can just see the top of the air cleaner on the right with a 3' filter on a stock intake w/Q-jet.
I think I have close to 2 inches clearance remaining
It's possible you won't need extra hood clearance if you choose to run an AirGap (don't know about Team G), I have an '81 (which I believe is the same hood as an '80), with ZZ4, AirGap, and a Holley 750. I do have to run a drop base air cleaner. I still have almost a quarter inch clearance. If you run a Q-Jet, I think they are taller, and will not fit.

I know there would be enough clearance on the windshield side, but because the "rise" is sloped, I'm not sure about the front of the air cleaner w/ a RPM Airgap or similar intake. I was hoping to *not* run a drop base cleaner.
