have installed a 454 bbc in my 1970. engine is not a covette engine but is a passinger car high performance block. front pulley is resting on crossmember with 1/2" left to go to drop down on motor mounts. pulley is a threegroove with rear groove not used. middle for p/s. outside for alt.. pulley is approx. 7 7/8" by 3" deep. what is the best solution-- is a smaller pulley avl. or do i need to cut a groove in cross member?? gary
My stock ac, ps, 71 BB car has a 2 groove pulley that measures a little less than 2 inches. It looks like it has room for another groove though, before it would hit the frame.

You will need all vette specific pulleys or cut the cross member,
Sounds like your motor is equipped with a long water pump and pulleys
All C3 vettes came with short water pumps and pulleys to match.
All that being said I cut my cross member and built a larger notch for clearance of a deep crank pulley. Not a big deal to do if you have minor fab skills.
no part number, not sure there is one...but with HIGH heat on the cross member you can make a substancial dimple it to fit without losing any strength and look like nothing happened.......no cuts ect.
