Have any of you tried a reverse brake bleeder from Phoenix Systems? I'm going to be bleeding my brakes in the coming weeks and I was wondering if this is a good tool to use (especially since I'll be bleeding the system by myself).
I just did my brakes tonight. All 4, new SS lines, SS hoses, Rebuilt M/C and booster, and new speed bleeders on each caliper. I "bench bleed" my M/C with it mounted on the car, just made sure it was level. I read all the brake bleeding articles I could and went with Front Right, Front Left, Back Left Inside then Outside, Back Right Inside then Outside. Despite having the speed bleeders on the calipers I still needed my wife to help by pushing the brake pedal while I watched for when the bubbles stopped, but they did eliminate the need to open and close the bleeder each pump. A few leaks here and there, tightened things up and now I have a solid pedal. I'm glad I didn't spend any extra money on power bleeders and other equipment. It only took less than 1L of new brake fluid as well.
Bench bleeding is MANDATORY otherwise you'll be pumping air forever.

I prefer the Power Bleeder.
Reverse brake bleeders are OK and get the job done - and could be a little faster if your just bleeding the brakes. Thats what they use for a lot of aircraft.
But the GM recommendation for changing brake fluid is every 2 or three years to prevent moisture accumulation in the lines (brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air).
What i like about my Motive Power Bleeder (http://store.motiveproducts.com/sing...eders-c16.aspx) is once u get it sealed to the M/C u can watch the fluid color as it runs out when u open the caliper bleeder (into a tygon hose of course). Once the color is fairly clear u can close and move to the next wheel - then repeat all wheels until your happy. The Motive Pwr Bleeder has large capacity.
What i'm saying is u get a lot more for the same or less cost $$$. Only difficulty with the Pwr Bleeder is getting a good seal on the M/C - otherwise u will put a lot of brake fluid on the ground very fast (believe me ).
But to setup and use that reverse bleeder maybe a little quicker.
Good luck at let us know if u try the reverse bleeder,
