Modified '69 Value....any guesses?

Basically it's a fairly decent looking car.
Black
Headlights have been replaced with the non-movable ones
454 emblems on the hood
Engine has a scoop sticking up out of the hood

"wire" wheels on it.
No idea of mileage or anything else (frame shape, interior shape, etc...)
So obviously this thing doesn't appear stock at all. Any stabs at what it'd be worth. I know what it said on the sign but I'll refrain from spilling that for now. Based on the price (lots more than I paid for mine) I'm thinking the guy has a lot invested in the engine and is looking at recovering that cost.
Any guesses? Yeah, I know it's a hard game to play with so little info! :D

This whole question really depends on what you (or any buyer) wants the car for. If you want a all original car, there are enough of them out there you just have to look and pllan on spending top dollar. If you want a fun driver it could be the car for you.
If the #'s don't match, but the car is in sound condition (meaning decent paint, body, interior, drivetrain and brakes) I think it's easily worth 10k prob more.
I know If I were to sell my car I'd be looking for a minimum of 12k and it would prob take a fair amount more than that for me to part with it. My car has no matching numbers but the motor, drive train, brakes and suspension are all new in the last couple of years. It's far from perfect (yet) but it's getting there.
If I could have found my car, done the way it is now for 17k I would have happily bought it, and I would have well been ahead of the game. Then again - I never wanted a numbers matching car.
IMO Just because the numbers don't match dosent mean it's not worh 20k. Numbers matter to some people, Not to me. If it's worth the money... it's worth the money.

Mike: I know what you're saying. It's difficult to put a value on a car once it's been 'personalized' I guess you'd say. What appeals to one doesn't necessarily appeal to another. In the broad scheme of things, a modified NOM Vette is worth significantly less than an original one, unless someone finds particular value in the modifications that have been made. Not always easy.

There was a '69 on e-bay that someone posted the link to.. I think he wanted $14K for a 55K garaged original owned 4sp '69 that looked mint. When you take a closer look at it you may like EVERYTHING he's / she's :) done to it.
Right off the bat I don't like the air scoop through the hood..
Stab in the dark... $9K... Sight un seen I'd give him $7K.. Let me know if he takes it..
I just went back to E-Bay.. The bid is upto $17,400 and hasn't met his reserve yet. I'm not changing my offer.. just passing on info..
