im assuming that the numbers by the part or bolt in the manual would lead me to the correct size needed however, Google will only give me some of the bolts if i type it in. for example involving the regulator 'screw 47236" . how can i identify what screw this is supposed to be if I was to go to home deport?
Yeah, the AIM has alot of invaluable material in it, but it is not written or organized for what we use it for. It was made for use by workers on the assembly line. In order to find what I am looking for, I usually have to start at page 1 and just flip thru it until I stumble over what I need. And things like nuts and bolts are refered to by part numbers, which the worker had a big pile of by his work station. He didn't need to know what size the bolt was, just the part number, so the manual doesn't bother with it, sometimes. Where the AIM really shines is when attempting to "un-bubba" things on your 'vette.
I just got this manual in the mail and I am estatic! however...i have no idea how to read the what screws/bolts are needed. any suggestions?
You are looking for the "Chevrolet 1953-1982 Corvette Parts and Illustration Catalog" (1983 edition).
This book has Corvette parts listed by Group Code in one section and has another section of exploded parts illustrations. These sections have fastener descriptions like " 2 3/4"(length), 3/8"(diameter), 18 tpi (threads per inch), Gr 8(grade 8).
Do a Google search there is usually a site where you can download a copy of the fiche. Be aware these are large files. You can usually find a paper copy on ebay etc for around $100.
