Default Help... Cat Convertor info please

My smog persn said he would accept a two in, two out cat on my car in Kalifornia. This would allow me to get close to a true daul exhaust. Can someone help with some links to high performance cats? maybe some one will make one that will work.

Thanks

http://store.summitracing.com/

go to "browse", then "exhaust", then "catalytic converters", then "universal fit". Look for Catco. I saw a dual in, dual out, but it was only 2" on each pipe. I'm assuming you're looking for 2.5". I didn't see one of those, but Catco might make one anyway.

Good luck!

Check out or call Muffler Tech. They made a test pipe for me so I can get rid of the cat, but they sell hi performance ones too

Got a stock 81( 2" pipe) too and just had a dual in/dual out low flow cat installed. The old cat was starting to make metalic crackling noise upon cold start-ups so thought Id replace it since Im getting ready to go on a long road trip. Seems to have a lil more pep and there was no change in exhaust sound. Cost me $ 180, but dont know the cats brand name.
Funny thing though....this new cat makes the same noise as my old cat....only worse. Mechanic is trying to tell me that I might have ruined it because of some malfunction with my engine. Engine is running fine and only had 5 miles on the new cat.
Anyone ever have a noisie cat before? thoughts?

If you're running too rich or have a lot of blowby I hear that can ruin the ceramic in the car and come apart in chunks.

I know a lot of people don't like JC Whitney.
I haven't had any problems with them, but it's been a long time since I've ordered anything.
