Default One more Engine questions

This may have been done to death and if so I apologize. I am restoring a 68 conv. It does not have the correct engine now, I want to rebuild or replace it. For the time and money it would cost me to do it myself (I can do it but not a master builder) I am thinking about a crate motor to simplify things. The two engines I am looking at are.

ZZ4 350 Tech Specs 355 HP 405 Torques

Block Type:
Cast iron with 4-bolt main caps
Bore x stroke (in): 4.00 x 3.48
Camshaft duration (@.050 in): 208 degree intake / 221 degree exhaust
Camshaft lift (in): .474 intake / .510 exhaust
Camshaft Part Number: 10185071
Camshaft type: Steel hydraulic roller
Compression ratio: 10:1
Connecting rods Type: Powdered metal steel
Crankshaft Type: Forged steel
Cylinder head Type: Aluminum; 58cc chambers
Pistons Type: High-silicon aluminum with offset pins
Rocker arm ratio: 1.5:1
Rocker arms Type: Stamped steel
Valve size (in): 1.94 intake / 1.50 exhaust

Or the.

fast burn 385 385 HP 385 Torque

Block Type: Cast iron with 4-bolt main caps
Bore x stroke (in): 4.00 x 3.48
Camshaft duration (@.050 in): 208 degree intake / 221 degree exhaust
Camshaft lift (in): .474 intake / .510 exhaust
Camshaft type: Hydraulic roller
Compression ratio: 9.6:1
Connecting rods Type: Powdered metal steel
Crankshaft Type: Forged steel
Cylinder head Type: Fast Burn aluminum; 62cc chambers
Pistons Type: Hypereutectic aluminum
Rocker arm ratio: 1.5:1
Rocker arms Type: stamped steel
Valve size (in): 2.00 intake / 1.55 exhaust

If you have opinions on these please let me know. The fast burn is about 600 bucks more is the extra worth it?

Thanks and sorry for the long post.

If they are both GMPP engines, then the bottom end is identical, just the heads and cam are different. Go for the more powerful engine, you'll be glad you did later.

Get the zz385 and before you drop it in the car install the Lt4 hot cam and make a zz430 clone
only new part you will need is the cam.

The question is are you planning any other modifications? If you are not planning to change anything go for the higher HP engine. If you want to change the heads and cam I would suggest just getting the regular ZZ4.

I guess that is my main question, am I really going to notice 30 HP? I am not trying to make a super fast track car, just something for the street to cruise around in but I want it to be able to get out of its won way.

Is it better to get 30 more horsepower and lose 20 lbs of tourque?

The cam appears to be the same as listed on the website....

Is there an advantage to one over the other?

You need the 1.6 rockers and the Lt4 hot cam for the zz430
