Default 74 hood clearance 454 BB

Okay, so I just finished swapping in a 454 in my '74. Formerly, a 350. I got the engine out of an old dump truck. I knew I'd have hood clearance issues but in no way should stop anyone from going big block. So, I'm at this point and now need a proven combination that will ensure hood clearance. Currently, it has the cast iron intake manifold, a carb riser/spacer, and a Holly 750 vac sec carb. Any suggestions? In '74, these came 454 stock, with the flat hood (such as mine). So, I know there has to be a combo out there. Please advise.

There was a small block hood, and there was a big block hood. Which do you have?

You have the med. rise 73-79 hood. The stock BB intake works or Torker II.

68-72 SB have the flat hood.

Default Hmmm

I have the standard (small block) hood. As far as I know, in '74 there was only 1 hood, though. I found several photos of '74 BB with the same hood so I'm certain know there must be a way.

Yes, same (med. rise) hood SB or BB for your year. The stock BB intake works or Torker II.

If you're going to swap hoods, might as well go for an L88 hood. I have a Torker II under my stock BB hood and it's a tight fit. It would suck to swap hoods to find it doesn't fit. Also, getting the L88 hood will allow you to run a carb/spacer/intake combo that really works together.
