427 BB piston ID help
Hi
Dropped the pan off my 427 today, would like to ID the pistons for the dome size with out pulling the heads, the bottom of the piston has
343-99, does this mean anything ??

Merely by looking at the mains will help if the engine is still stock.....2 bolt is a hydraulic cam low compression 427 and 4 bolt is a high performance 427....another quick guide is the red line of the tach visible by a glance into the cockpit.....

Numbers on the bottom of a piston are call Blank number. They can use one blank for many differnt types of domes or dishes -cc +cc, pin height. ring groves. Sorry, the part number and size is going to be on the face (top) of pistons.

Thanks for the info guys, will pull a head off and find the part number. We know they have good sized domes, my engine guy can't remember what size, need to buy some new heads as this engine is race gas only at the moment, now the big decision on which heads to buy....
