Steering stops, tie rods
Also, does anyone make a heavier tie rod, the originals are a bit light for my liking.
Thanks, Doug
The steering stops on my '71 measured 13/16" out from the CA, to the leading edge, and from the nearest point you could get a steel tape to sit square to the CA.
I got some tie rod sleeves from VB&P. They're hefty, powdercoated, and use jamb nuts instead of clamps. Add some MOOG tie rod ends and your squared...
Lemme know if this helps.

Thats exactly what I needed to know. I'm in the middle of rebuilding the steering and front suspension, so I thought I should make sure the stops are correct. At the moment the stops are just a small point sticking out from the control arm. Do you know if the stop was originally flat on the end or if it was contoured to the shape of the arm that hits it?
I'll check out the tie rods on VB.
Cheers, Doug
Mine are pointed as well, and have a step-down (if you will) maybe 1/4" down. They showed no signs of impact, or wear. The VB&P tie rod sleeves will end up cheaper than new sleeves with their hokey clamps, and are much easier to adjust. This is what made me go with them.
