On a 78 that has been converted to the 134 stuff is it normal for the compressor to remain engaged all the time?
I converted my car over to the newer style freon (134) and replaced the compressor and charged the system. It hold a charge and produces cool air, but the compressor clutch stays engaged when the air is turned on (it turns off wehn I switch the a/c off).
According to my charging gauge (that connects to the charging port) its not producing too much or too little pressure (around 30).
Is there anything to worry about or is it working as designed?
Sounds fine to me. Our stock A/C should be about same & my 77 normally stayed on stock. R134 runs at higher pressure. If it's cooling fine, it should be fine.
