Default Holley Blue Electric Pump Installed

It was finally time to retire the old Holley mechanical pump for an electric upgrade. The Holley Blue pump has had a great reputation aside from it being abit loud.

Alittle closer view of the bracket I had to make to mount everything to.

Poor quality engine shot:

I have a similar set up in one of my cars, only Mallory. It's nice to switch the ignition to aux for a few second's to fill up the carb bowls before starting, and fires right up. Also put a dash switch on mine to stall out on empty bowls when parking. For the heck, put a pressure gauge on the regulator. Curious whats blue about the Holley pump, as actually used to be painted blue. Have a Holley red pump, and painted red.

Thats a great idea about being able to empty the bowls, I might consider doing that

The Blue refers to the label color. There are also the Red and the Black Holley pumps. Blue is their Street/Strip model.

We have ran a 'Blue' pump for many years and find them very reliable. They come with a regulator and as mentioned a fuel gauge can be tapped in to help with fuel pressure adjustment prior to the float bowls.

Yes, the do make more noise that a .25 $ vibrating bed as experienced in the 70's of a famous motel chain however with grommets installed between the mounting plate and the anchor surface can cut it down considerably.

Good choice.

Thanks Layton

Korevette I actually mounted a fuel pressure gage at the end of the fuel log near the carb, hard to tell from the engine shot The pump came with a rubber gasket that is mounted between the pump and mounting bracket.

A bit noisy? I had one on my 68. Replaced it with an Aeromotive Steet and Strip pump and also a speed controller. My 68 has an HEI, and I use the rpm output signal into the speed controller. When the engine is idling, the speed controller runs the pump at a slow speed and minimizes noise. I think when engine rpm gets up to 2500 rpm, the speed controller applies full 12 volts (actually 14 volts with the engine up in rpm) to run the pump at full power. Also, when I turn the engine off, the speed controller senses 0 rpm from the HEI and turns off the pump.

nice install, I have a new aeromotive SS series electric pump that I'll be installing soon and will be making similar mounting brackets.

did you notice any performance gain with new fuel set-up? my current mech pump drops fuel pressure from 7.5psi-4.5psi at WOT, and with my new pump I should hold 7.5psi and figured i might gain power.

I like those valve covers

I like that feature, sounds like an excellent idea in the event of an accident, assuming of course the engine stops. I'm thinking about fuel injection and these electric pumps that keep pumping fuel as long as 12v is applied scare the heck out of me.

Who is the speed controller made by?

L-82, I haven't noticed any performance gains from by switching to the electric pump. The Aeromotive pumps look really nice.
