Default Help.....transmission!
Ok, I took my 71 4 speed out to drive on Saturday. Ran beautifully, went to pull into a stop. Downshifted, then it would not go into any gear. Pushed her into a parking spot, went inside for a bit then came back out....still will not go into any of the 4 forward gears, but will go into reverse. Is this a transmission problem, vacume problem or what.....HELP!

the shifter lever bolts on the side of the case have loosened. jack the drivers side up, push all levers into neutral and retighten the bolts.

Would you have a diagram of this or picture of these....any help would be great and let me know the easiest way to access this area to tighten the bolts. Thanks!

Can you shift it into the forward gears with the engine off and clutch pushed in?

No, cannot shift into any forward gear.

Sounds like you have a shifter problem. Is the neutral gate the same or is it narrower?
