1980 Horn has been Molested!!
The previous owner of this car was nothing short of a complete idiot. Every place I go on this thing, he has wire tied,duck taped and/or completely deleted the parts.
He must of had a problem with the E-brakes...His remedy....remove all the E-brakes and hardware. Did the same in the column with horn components.
I have taken the column apart, and I see what is missing but my problem is that, under the big spring is the column locking plate, under that is a short heavy spring,under that is a spacer/bushing of some sort and it's worn. It is about 1 inch in diameter and doesn't really seem to fit in there correctly. Kind of just flops around the shaft.
Does anyone know what this is and/or does?? It looks to be chrome on the outside and brass or copper inside. And it is very thin walled. It is the same diameter as the heavy spring. Is it just a pusher/spacer for the spring??
