Default Electrical Problem On 81

When I open the door the interior lights come on as they should. When I turn the ignition to the on position the radio and other accessories come on as they should. When I turn the ignition to the start position the starter bumps as if its going to turn over and then I loose all power to everything. I have tried cutting the black wire on the starter interrupt, doesn't work. I tried jumping the two purple/white with solid purple and the same thing happens. It was working fine until the batter went dead now nothing but problems.

I would look at the ground wire going to the battery. First check to see it is tight an clean at the battery -- then check under the car to see if it is secure and clean where it attaches to the frame.

and check and clean the 6 wire connector coming up from the starter. Connector is behind and above the passenger cylinder head.

The ground was the problem after reading your reply I checked the ground on the frame and it was shot. Bought a new one and replaced it. Now it works great. I also cleaned the connecter to be sure. Thanks for the help I really appreciate it.
