Default Line Lock Install in my '77

I know this has been gone over time and time again, but I am not coming to a conclusive decision by reading what I've found. I am installing a line lock on my '77. Should it be installed before or after the proportioning valve? Also, I'm reading mixed advice about removing the proportioning block all together. Does my block in the '77 actually "divert" fluid from the front to rear or vice-versa if it detects an imbalance in pressure from front to rear? I've read that from '77 on it does, but I'd like to get some sound advice. If I install my line lock as I have seen others do (run line off master cylinder to line lock and move front brake line from master cylinder to line lock) will the fluid "re-balance" and apply pressure to the rear brakes when I have the line lock engaged or does the valve actually have separate chambers in it that don't allow the fluid to pass from front to rear? Thanks, Neal

I did it on my 73.
Straight from the master.
When you let go of the lock the brake light comes on until you tap the brakes and it goes out.

Works great.

Right, and from what I'm reading, in '77 they changed the way the proportioning valve works, allowing fluid to be "diverted" to the rear after seeing an uneven fluid displacement. Essentially, it assumes the brakes have failed. I'm just concerned that the line lock will hold fluid to the front brakes and the proportioning valve will still allow fluid to flow to the rear after I let off the pedal. Does anyone know if this will happen? Thanks, Neal

Thanks gkull, I have read that thread, but what year did you do it on? Pre '77 I thought. I'm just concerned about the '77 and on proportioning valve.

if your concerned about the prop block then put the line lock in after the block . it will work.

Probably the easiest way is to just replace the front distribution block with the solonoid. Then you can use the existing hole and there is even a hole in the frame to run the wire through. Other electrical leg bolts to the case for ground.
