Default Electric brakebooster/brakeassist

The question is..

Is there any company that provides an direct fit electric brakebooster for the C3?

I know there are hydraulic ones that are driven by the powersteering pump but thats not what im looking for.

Hey Rick, I haven't done it yet but my 03 SS Silverado has a vacuum assist brake booster from the factory. If I shut the truck off and pump the brakes you can hear it kick on to maintain vac. So if you hit the salvage yard any Denali, escalade, ect... will have one. It's mounted right on the booster.

What is the price on that unit? I tried to find it on their website but no luck? Why don't people show a price?

Thanks.

Im not shure about the function and mounting.

Are the pump remotly located?

Is there a vacumtank at the pump?

Does the main brake cylinder mount directly on the firewall like on manual brakes?

Have you got a priceindication for the nessecery parts needed?

The mastercylinder is a very nice polished AL and bolts right in place of the stock M/.
If you order this kit make sure you get the one with the pump and accumator that go together.
I made a bracket that holds the pump and accumilator and mounted it to the frame behind the drives side gill vent.
The kit comes with everything you need except the bracket and brake tubing.

I'm running the ABS PowerBrake set up and it's great. Firm pedal pressure regardless of rpm which can be a challenge for a big block car with a high lift cam; it cured my issues. I also running 13" Wilwood brakes front (6-piston) & rear (4-piston). I have the pump mounted behind the gill vent on the drivers side and of course the vacuum booster on the firewall goes away, so the engine compartment is a lot cleaner looking and you shed a lot of weight with the billet aluminum MC too. You can search my threads for build pics and info.

The pricing is in their catalog, if you look at the index page it will direct you to the pricing section.

I run an electric vacuum pump. Not this one but similar:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CCA-5500/?rtype=10
Works fine but is a little noisy before the engine starts and it generates enough vacuum to shut off. Everybody always asks, what's that noise in your fender?

Default factory GM electric hydroboost

Try this:

http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...1305&ppt=C0066

It is a booster/master, with its own hydraulic pump, used on 1986 rear drive Buicks. This one is actually for a 1986 Buick Regal T-Type. A friend has one on his LSX / TKO equipped 55 T-Bird (!) and is very happy with it.

Somewhat rare, but would be a "factory GM" part, if that matters...

Good luck,
Tom
