Default HELP!! Headlight Manual Override Switch

Hi,

I have a 1969 manual SB with AC

My headlights and wiper door are stuck in up position and will not go down. They were working perfect before I had a car alarm installed. ( mistake)

I think one or more of the hoses on the manual override switch was mixed up or switched.

Does anyone have a simple picture/diagram of which hose goes where?

Any advice or help will be appreciated.

Odd that both would come up and stay up. Since the system splits off at the solenoid one to headlamps and one to the wipers.. something may have pinched the hose at number 7. Or both over-ride switches are backwards or pulled down.

I think I would start at the check valve on the intake, pull the hose off of C and feel for vacuum on the small tit. The check valve might be plugged up and blocking the vacuum from the hose.

If you have vacuum there then just I think I would check the over-ride switches next and make sure they are not pulled. If they are not pulled then check to see if the hoses are switched. An easy way to figure this out is to go to 10 at the relay F. See if that small hose has vacuum. If it doesn't then you should check the hoses on the over-ride.

On the headlamps... go to hose 1 and pull it loose at A... see if you have vacuum there.. If you do then something else is wrong.... If you don't, again I would go to the over-ride and see if you have vacuum there.

To make the lamps or the wiper door stay down, you must have vacuum on the small hoses at the relay. The system is a fail safe system designed to pop up when vacuum is missing. The components of the system block this vacuum to raise the doors.

Post back.

Paul just make sure with the engine running,(hl switch off, wiper switch off),the hoses with vacuum go on the ports closest to the *****.
