Default Help!

Just bought first Vette 1980. turn signals work but indicators dont. Where are they? cruise works sometimes. Tach stays at 7000 when key is on or running. Seat belt buzzer has a mind of its own. even buzzes when key is out, doors are shut, and nothing is left on. high beam indicator location? is there a cruise light?

Ahem...this might not be the most scientific solution, but try smacking the top of the dash a couple of times. What you have, are some wiring issues, same as me. And I think they will persist until the dash wiring is replaced...which requires a certain level of fortitude to even consider doing. The tach has it's own chip, as well, so, depending on what it's doing, it might need that replaced also.

Not sure if the 80 is different than the 76'...but if not, then my turn signal indicators are in the dash on either side of the speedo. You should be able to see them even if they don't light up anymore, they are arrows cut into the plastic. Highbeam indicator is also in the dash, but on the left, above the turn arrows.

I find that sometimes those indicators work, and sometimes they don't. Sometimes, when they are not working, and I go over a bump, they start working again. And vice versa. Sometimes, the interior dash lights are bright, and then, after a bump, they go dim.

It's a wiring mess inside that dash, I just know it is...it's a matter of laying down the cash for a harness, and then plucking up the courage to do the work.

All that stuff is in the speedometer/tack cluster. It comes out as a unit.

Do yourself a favor and get an AIM and a shop manual.

The indicators are located in the centre of the tach/speedo cluster (80-82). I had one indicator not working and all it needed was a bulb.
