Default Birdcage measurements

Does anyone have the correct figures for the birdcage dimensions?

The pass. side pillar is bent from the body mount up. The problem is the angle w/ the door window is all wrong, the pillar is angled to the front. The edge of the pillar where the chrome end (where the T-top clicks into) stands up, the angle of the upper bar is wrong and there are some other problems.

HELP HELP HELP!

How on earth am I going to get this straight again..maybe all new pieces would be the best thing to do right??

This major sucks! :cry :( :nonod: :mad

What the heck did you do to your car?
I would suggest that you get a straight corvette to compare to your car. Then you could make templates, etc. to compare. Of course, you may have trouble finding another Corvette where you live. Have any buddies with Vettes?

Yup have buddies with vettes :D

The other side is a okay.
The car got hit on the pillar, where the body mount is. I didn't see that when I bought it (how could I w/ all the fiberglass covering that area) and from underneath there was NOTHING to see..

I think it's time to break out the hammer, angle grinder & the welding torch :(

...please make it stop? yeah.. I wish that too! Raah.. stinkin' lousy POS cars :(

Ahh Brussels!!

I think I see a conspiracy here! All the rotten bent POS vettes get shipped to Europe  :yesnod:

I feel for you man, I'm not happy w/ this.. can't imagine it being worse.

What do you need? I know there's a body for sale in Germany (Berlin) for Euro500 (complete body! 78 vette)

Where do you buy the parts? New or used? If you need the birdcage.. I need a firewall ;) :D

I remember someone here had a black C3 (69??) and he had everything apart, even the body. He really ceaned and smoothed his firewall (he removed it also!)

Who was it? I think he has the necessary data (I can't imagine putting it together w/o them)

Thanks,

Marck

It can be worst :yesnod: mine was rusted in the typical area around the winshield but after further inspection I discovered that actualy the rust had eated the pillar behind the driver and that the cage was only attached by 3 mount thus and then that it also rusted where the seat belt attach to the cage up to the point that it broke and was only maintained by the fiberglass
so I already bougth the back of the body of a 78 (is there a conspiracy against 78 corvette in europe ??? ) but I paid 750 euro from the firewall to the back except the bumper :cry :cry I found it in a french american car mag
I can't help you with the firewall, I broke it during disassembly  sorry
I guess you must have had the same trouble removing it.

500euro for a complete body  it's pretty cheap !! does it includes the door or bumper???

I have another question for you twinnie where did you found your powdercoating unit??

Don't tell me you threw away the firewall???

If it's broken I can probably fix it. Mine's so F^%$ed up ... almost everything else would be better.

Luckily my birdcage is solid except for the damaged parts...it's certainly a lot easier to fix than yours..must be a total nightmare! I feel your pain, w/ parts being hard to find here.. total bummer!

The 78 in Berlin is complete, but I don't think the front is included. I could buy it but I have so many spare parts... where to leave the whole thing.

Removing the firewall was pretty easy, took me all of 3 hours or so. No biggie. Trick is to use a sharp chisel & quality drills for removing rivets.

The PC unit came from Eastwood. However, I also have a connection in the PC bizz, in germany. Those guys do the larger parts for me. I bought the gun on sale (some time ago) it's more expensive now but if you do it properly the results are excellent.

[dutch!]

Heeee Dennis, 't zijn gewoon kut auto's man!
