I've tried many things now to get my car to run cooler (currently at 230) to no avail. One of my theories is that I may have the wrong head gasket, with the cooling passages either too small or in the wrong place. I recently rebuilt the engine (750 miles) and am worried I may have gotten the wrong head gasket. Can anyone confirm the correct Fel-Pro Blue head gasket for a stock 69 427/390? The heads are stock cast iron and it's a 2 bolt main (L36).
Re: Correct head gasket for big block??? (427Hotrod)
427Hotrod,
I don't have the number with me, I will check after work. I forgot to look last night. I bought a complete set of gaskets at one time. I'm a little worried that maybe the cooling holes may be the wrong size.
