Anyone else getting viruses. I seem to be getting alot lately.
Here is a list of sender names and topics:

I keep my virus software updated and it has taken care of these items.
Is there anything else that I can do to find out who is sending these.

 

Are you getting the virus thru email. If so then your IP can block that sender. Also just delete anything that comes with an attachment, a picture (.jpg) from someone you know could be OK tho.

 

From what I understand, most virus apps are transmitted in email the other one I noticed is the kaza type down load programs especially if you dowload software very dangerous. I like Norton anti virus it saves my a__ all the time as long as the auto update is on it takes care of itself and you. :yesnod: :seeya

 

You could always get a Mac :D
9 out of 10 viruses can't infect a Mac...

I am running a current version on Norton Systemworks so my computer is fine. Most of my internet exposure is on the forum. I am just wondering if anyone else is receiving these bugs.

 

1. Don't use Microsoft Outlook.
2. Disable auto update.

 

Most ( 99% ) viruses come from email, you probably picked it up there. The ones you get from casual browsing are rare .

They came in email and I do use Outlook.
What's wrong with using Outlook?

 

You can use Outlook. Viruses usually come in attachments. When you reciecve an email and it looks stupid ( I love you ) or something silly like that
DELETE IT It will usually have an .exe extension like iloveyou.exe

When you click on the .exe file this starts the virus.

Thats the one! I looked it up at the Norton website after it was identified and quarantined. I have my virus program set up to scan all incoming email so it never had a chance to do anything. Are the emails coming from individuals who want to infect my computer or are they coming from computers that have been infected?

They are coming from computers that are already infected and your address is in their address book. There are lots of people out there who do not realize they even have an address book. There are so many millions of email messages that get forwarded around every minute and computer users do not clean up address books to remove people they don't even know who they are. Worm viruses are spread via this method and users do not even know they are sending these messages.

yep....its intent is to crash mail systems.
once executed they grab a persons outlook address book and send to everyone in the book the same letter and header you opened. now multiply this by say 30 people in your book, then go by multiples of 30...see...it hits exponent figures everytime...
now take that to a business or mail system (yahoo).
we'll take a business...since they normally have each other in their
address book, this is where they flood an email server and crash it...the emails are getting sent back and forth so much and so fast...its overwhelming to the mail server to keep up...not to mention filling the receiver's mailbox.
