Had to share the great service from County Corvette Sales in West Chester, PA.
I left my 81 vette for service for the following, Trailing arms and rear.
I started to get that "klunk" around corners and heard a whine (faint) since the day I brought her home. I added to the "toy fund" with the bonus and decided to get things squared away.
Jim was great to deal with, super clean shop, very friendly people and the breakdown of the work was very detailed. He took Gina (girlfriend) and myself into the shop and showed us exactly what was done. Gina was impressed he remembered her name and spoke to her too instead of the usual bypass the female. **note** She liked the place and was excited to just be a part of the process and not excluded as normal shops sometimes do. I figure it could make spending $$ a lil easier the next time too, not that she ever really complains. :D
Final list of work; 2 side yokes, rebuild kit, posi clutch pack, strut rod bushings, rear spring hanger kit, side yolk seals, pinion seal and the
trailing arms got the a-ok.
Next on the list is ball joints and tie rod ends.....then its time for paint :D
I've heard alot of nice things about them. The only negative I've heard is that they're a little pricey. It's good to hear about a service shop that provides quality service.
I wish I knew about them when I lived up that way. I had a '74 that needed a lot of attention.
Gary:
How's the Charcoal Pit on 202??? I make it a point to get there every time I'm back up north (and sometimes 2 and 3 times a day) :D :D
The "PIT" has the best ice cream...but the service kind of went downhill. I am only minutes away from there. Located at Naamans and Shipley road across from the former Brandywine race track. Drop a note when your up this way.

That's not fair - we don't have one of those in Texas !
....'course you realize that it's an oxymoron - great service - from a "sales" business... :yesnod: -wonder how long that'll last - did they pay you to post this ?!? :jester
Gary,
We are planning a late June trip up there. I'm getting cheese steak sandwich and chocolate malted withdrawals.I'll drop you an e-mail
For those of you wondering, the Charcoal Pit has been on Rt. 202 since the 50's. From what Dad used to tell me, Rt. 202 was the only main N/S road through town (before I-95). Teens, hot rods, etc. would pack the joint on Fri. and Sat night back then.
The place is just about unchanged, other than the menu prices. And when I was there with the family on a Sat. night 6 months age, there were teens, hot rods (mainly rice burners), etc. I'm glad some things don't change.
I'll second that in a big way. They are simply the very best shop I ever dealt with. Had a whole new exhaust system installed on my 79 last March and the service and the work wasn't only good, It was great, perfect is a better word for County Corvette. Nate in the shop took a while to listen to me and made sure he did everything just as I had asked. I can't recommed the shop enough, they are really pro's at corvette repair and any kind of work you need done. I will use them exclusively from now on.
I got the info from your post. I even took a copy of your posting to show them.
What a nice place to deal with. I am scheduling the ball joints and tie rod ends this summer. Then its just paint to finish her up. Thanks for the heads up.
Marc and Lisa,
Great!!! drop me a line and I'll be glad to catch up with you.
Your correct its went from great rods to rice burners....but what a history over the years. I graduated Concord High in 76 so I have some "fond" memories of the "Pit" :D My brother Graduated Brandywine in 65 and he remembers the pit and the Dog house over on the north bound side. But while we are strolling down memory lane ..........how about all the great places down the "Valley" ? Smithbridge is even getting a face lift....new covered bridge scheduled for construction in JUne or early July.
Gary - How long was it from the time you dropped it off to the time it was done?
Killain - I seem to remember having a conversation with you a while back about a huge arguement you had with those folks. Was your post meant as sarcasm? Just curious.
My take on them is that they are good folks who know what they are doing but take on more work then they can handle. Sometimes they're to nice to say no.
I bought my 82 at County. They are simply the best. After looking for a late C3 L-82 4 SPD for years, I walked away with an almost perfect, fully documented car for what I thought was the right price. Jim Jordan and Ron Zitter were great to work with and are obviously serious Corvette enthusiasts. Their expertise shows in the cars they offer for sale. And hey--they remembered me at Carlisle two years later!
I only wish I was located closer, so I could make further use of County's expert workmanship. Maybe they are a little pricey--but from what I've seen and heard, they do quality work!
