Default Custom Wheel Emblem Advice Wanted

Well, I haven't even finished my suspension / steering installation, and here I am looking at 4 new 17" wheels in boxes and already thinking about modifying them.

Specifically, each wheel has a press-fit hemispherical center cap on a cylindrical body, and a "Boyd Coddington Wheels" plastic stick-on emblem:

I'm sure I could pop these out. Near as I can tell, the front axle hub doesn't come up to the level of the wheel surface on the inside, so I got to thinking... What if I were to find some way to replace the center cap with a flat top and mount up a Corvette Collector Edition emblem (such as found in the center caps of the stock CE wheels). e.g.,

Any ideas how to accomplish this? I've thought about contacting Boyd's for some blank caps, and will probably call them.

Here's the whole wheel, FYI:

Another thought I had that would be simpler to execute was just to put just the crossed flags on an oval sticker and replace the Boyd's sticker.

-Noel

The Boyds emblem fine but I think your "crossed flags" idea would be a nice touch. How would you go about finding a high quality decal for this application?

Those are some sharp looking rims! Don't know if I would change the centercaps or not, I'm undecided at the moment.

Thanks. They ran just about $1000 for the set of 4 (17 x 8 in front, 17 x 9.5 in back). Add another $750 for BFG gforce rubber and $125 for shipping to my house.

I'm thinking I could scan and laminate the flags myself. I'm not sure how to make a weatherproof decal, but what's it cost to try? I have a friend who owns a laser engraver... I understand he can do plastic. Maybe that's a way to go.

I would order the blank center caps, if they will seel them to you. It looks like the current ones are recessed, and that would make your stickers not fit right...

Cool choice, I can't wait to see them mounted. SO hurry up!

Around here we have several places you can go that will make a custom vinyl decal for you. Alot of racing around here so he gets alot of business. Does all the cop cars as well. It's basically a sign shop. I like the idea if the vette emblem myself. Think it would look good and definitely be one of a kind. I wouldn't pop them out and replace with another though. The only way I would do it would be with a good qaulity sticker like this guy makes. Just make sure its UV resistant.
