anyone familiar with hood clearance with a hi rise alum intake.going to put a lt1 intake on my rebuild?i may also have to use a half inch carb adapter to use original rochester.
i bought an original lt 1 intake.i do have the cast iron 69 intake as well but dont want to put that turd back on.i would rather change the hood then comprimise my engine performance at this point.or may just run a real short air cleaner.
A significant improvement was made on the 2nd 2101 Performer & Chevy's bow tie intake which Chevy said was as good as the high rise meaning the LT-1 intake. The 2nd 2101 Performer has Edelbrock logo in same place as Chevy logo & works w/ Q-J. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/1557614132-post14.html

If you run the LT1 intake with a Q-jet adapter, you probably wont be able to fit any air filter on.
If you do manage to find a short enough filter element to fit under the stock hood, it will compromise your performance much more than the stock intake.
If you want to run the LT1 intake you have, you will save some much needed room by switching to a Holley carb.
If you really want to run your Q-jet, look into the Performer RPM Q-Jet intake (#7104).
Even with one of these options , you will need to run a deep dropped base air cleaner and a fairly short filter element. 14 x 2", maybe 2.5"
Obviously if you change the hood there are all kinds of other options open to you.
