1968 wiper motor question

I purchased a 68 coupe last week. Previous owner replaced the wiper motor. He purchased it at a carquest auto parts store. They told him it was for a 1968. It was unhooked when I drove the car home. The 3 wire leads from my motor are 6-8 inches too short to reach the factory 3 prong harness connector.
I made 3 jumper wires and hooked red lead to red, black to black, and lastly the white wiper motor wire to the double browns of the harness.
I have power at the harness connection. I checked this first.
The only position that responds is the washers when I push the dash switch. The wiper door opens the wipers sweep the glass and the pump runs. Then it parks itself. I have no low or high speed wipers in the 1st or 2nd position.

All vac works ie... head lights, wiper and headlight door overides and the wiper overide parks the blades on the glass and the dash light illuminates as its a late car 5/68.
Do I have the wrong motor?
I'd like to straighten out this motor before I start replacing relays and other switches as everthing else seems to be working in over ride mode.
Thanks for any help in advance.
I know my car is a one year wonder but I love her.

A-1 Cardone 40-146 wiper motor.
When it gets here and i install same I'll report back.
Cardone has the 1 year only motors for our 68's.
A qick tell sign is the 68 has 3 wires coming out of the
motor housing together. If it has only 2 and the ground emerging from some other place on the motor body good cahnces it's a 69 or later.
Thanks for the great site!!!!

If you still have the motor that was on the car keep it and bench test that one too, also pull the rubber bushings off as the new motor doesn't come with those or the connector so keep that too!

Ok.. below are three threads on this forum about the 1968 wiper motor.
The link below is where DZRick, Roger and I worked through correcting Ricks issues as well as the schematic on the motor. This thread also has a link to a putzing around video I did so people could see what happens when you to X. to your motor.
Take a look at these.. then go to the web site as Roger showed you and look for the help and repair file on the 1968 motor. Post again!

The second one down is the testing link to the original video we did.

The wipers were not working on my '68, so I pulled the motor, cleaned some of the old grease out, bench tested it and everything worked.
Put the motor back in the car, did the bench test with the wiper arms attached, and it worked.
Hooked all the regular wires back up, and sure enough, it worked. Guess 27 years of not being used locked it up a bit.
Also, your vacuum line kit worked great. I had to rebuild the relays, but that is something for another post. Now I have lights and wipers.
