I have a 68 corvette...the plug that is supposed to be connected to the wiper motor has 3 wires a red (power all the time while key is off) a black (ground?) and a green or white.......from what I have seen all 3 wires from the wiper motor should plug in with that plug correct? When I do it that way there is a direct current to the entire motor...I can put my test light on the housing and get current, but my wipers will not move. When I took old one out it was not the way listed above ....the white wire went elsewhere..and I can not figure out how to get this thing working...Any help would be greatly appreciated.....
Thanks,
Jeff
thanks fellas....that helped a bit, but for some reason now I am not getting power to where the brown wire is supposed to hitch too. I'm not much for electrical (as you can tell), but I am thinking that maybe the switch is bad (or better yet I burnt it out....) The motor will still work if I hitch the brown to direct power.
ok so ground is hooked properly now.....I turn the key on and then turn on wipers ...WOW..I have wipers ...only they will not shut off unless key is turned off..then I can turn key back on and they will not pop on again unless i hit the switch ..then same deal ...turn key off again.?????
Sorry for all these questions, but drove home from VT the other week with out them ..5 hours rain off and on...thank god for rain X....going to Old Orchard Beach next week and would like them to work just in case...
Thanks again all.......

Reason: add more
Willcox is probably going to have to take this one. The 68 is unique with its many grounds and ground is what turns the motor on. Ernie can take a motor and manipulate it to work like yours and then give you an answer, but I think I remember him addressing this condition in one of his posts or maybe his video. Did you watch his 68 video ?
thats fine...guys. I understand willcox....I actually have to get 2 kids ready for bed shortly....Just one more post before tomorrow....when my ground is good it will keep running and not shut off untill that ground is lost. I can not get a ground from the original plug, but did have a black wire that was used previously...come to find out that is not a good ground iether. I took the plate off to see the back of the switch and when I hit it to the trim it grounds and the wipers start to go...they stop as soon as I move the face plate....Both grounds I was trying to use go into the wiring harness....I should follow them and secure the ground...which I thought I did (in diagram it looks like the one goes to the override plate)...did not work. so it runs costantly with a good ground, but will not park when switch is shut off....
I will check back tomorrow to see if anyone is ready to shoot me.....
Thanks,
Jeff
I just want to apologize for how confusing my thread might be to follow and how long it is. I sure learned a lot over those weeks!
You can't ask for better help than Ernie and Roger!
I'll leave this to Ernie but I did see that you had power on the brown wire at all times, that should only have 12v when the motor is running.
With the diagram Ernie posted and his motor test you should be able to verify that each wire is going where it's suppose to. Check the connectors closely, you may have the wires in the wrong order.

to the red at all times..the brown does not...
I will study the diagram some more, I have a buddy at work that is pretty good with electrical work / diagrams.....I am goin over to help chop up a few cord of wood with him......maybe I can slide some electrical work in for him afterwards....

See, my reading ability matches my ability follow directions which explains why my thread was so long.
I've read through this late last night and again tonight.. Are you sure you have the wires in the wiper motor connection in the right place? The brown wire only picks up voltage when it is running. If the motor is not running it will not have power.

I will go out and check today...to make sure. I had to take a day off from the car to do other electical work that I hate soo much...My tenant house called and the box was arching / sparking. Had to call an electrician for that one. Worked with him all day to reduce the labor costs. replaced everything from from outside the house all the way in...got upgraded while we were there.
Red is to the Red coming into the back of the plug....Brown is to the one going in the opposite direction and the one next to the red is empty because I was not getting a good ground off of it. I was actually going to follow that ghround back...I am not sure where this ground ends up though? When I was working on the house yesterday the I mentioned it and he (the electrician) said it sounds like a relay?
