Default proper intro

Posted a topic a few weeks back re a matching #s 1970 LT-1 coupe. The advice was great and for better or worse (a least the wife agreed), I bought the car. After a 23 year sit (old barn find), the goal is to get her running smooth. I will be dropping a few grand in the next month to rebuild every vital system. The cosmetics can wait. Pics and details to follow.

Now, the big question. The car has side pipes. I am getting conflicting answers on whether they were factory original, factory installed, or ?? It is the only item that the previous owner (third) was not sure about.

69 was the only C3 year for factory installed sidepipes, this doesn't mean they couldn't have been dealer installed in 70 or ordered over the counter.

The green one !! :) Congrats on your purchase! We will all want to see pics. Although the sidepipes didn't come from the factory, if they are "factory style" sidepipes they are worth a lot of money, and would pay for a stock replacement exhaust system if you wanted to go that way. But then, a lot of folks really love sidepipes!! :) MJ

yup - the green one...the plan for the car is to leave it as original as possible, including paint. The cowling over the wipers does need to be repainted so I may replace it as to leave the original intact. Not sure if the car will be worth more restored or original (repaired). Do love the side pipes though!! :)
