Just been reading about the Borgeson Delphi 600 Steering Box Upgrade..
A 12.7:1 ratio rather than standard 16:1 ratio.

Lots of different kits out there in Vette land.

Anyone tried one of these steering boxes ?
Or any other brand ?

The increased handling and precision of control with MODERN TIRES on the car, is greatly appreciated.....

if the knowledge of the Borgeson or other similar Jeep box was had at the time, I would have done that instead of the rack install, just plainly simpler....but I put in a rack with similar results ten years ago....2.7 turns lock to lock instead of the 3.7 turns with stock systems.....

Works great. I have one on my car. I did an article for the old Corvette Enthusiast last year covering the install.

Do a search over in the C-2 section. There have been quite a few folks using them.

Unbelievable difference, but I was going from manual steering. Quiet, no leaks, better ratio, tight, old-school look. Solid product and the install would have gone smoothly if not for: 1) Brake line re-route ('68 only issue, I believe), 2) getting the ball stud out of my *#$@ Pittman arm, 3) Pulley alignment issue with NOM. If you have headers, you may need to drop, the left side to get the pittman arm off. Removal would make bolting the gear box up much easier. I've heard of others needing to dimple the #1 pipe. I didn't need to on Hooker Super Comps.

The only other problem I had was the gear/pittman arm spline alignment. Seemed to be more trouble than it should have been. It took some careful filing and many tries to get the splines fully engaged. Had the same trouble with original Pittman arm and an aftermaket one.

Another potential headache (not product related) I've heard of is getting your steering column collapsed. I had zero trouble here.

Get an alignment when you are done.

Overall, one of the best upgrades I've done.

put one in last summer. straight forward install, zero problems. 4 wheel alignment and the car drives better than new.

Luke_ I have this installed in my 75. My entire stock system was worn out. A leaking/gooey mess. This really cleans things up underneath. The car has a noticeable improvement in the steering ratio. The car tracks straight and true, can steer with a finger.

I went this route as I felt even if I was to rebuild the stock system, it would inevitably leak again.
Some have reported good feedback having the stock box rebuilt/blueprinted by a forum member, who's name currently escapes me.

Good luck in whatever way you choose.

I too have converted from manual steering to the Borgeson system in my '69. Hooker Super Comp headers, no problem. The front suspension had all the bushings replaced (rubber) new HD tie-rod and ends, new ball joints, new idler arm, new springs. The steering is very fast, positive, and tight. I highly recommend it.

I just received mine about a week ago. Installing it as part of an entire front suspension and steering rebuild. I sure am going to miss my powersteering leak on the garage floor.

OEM box custom blueprinted/rebuilt by gtr1999-Gary Ramadei-zero play, no leaks- better than when new-no desire now for any other steering mechanism!

Has anybody installed this on a car with hooker headers and side pipes? I'm not sure if they're the same headers as the super comps??

I've had my front end rebuilt, new a arm bushings, bearings, ball joints, bearings etc and I still have a lot of free play in my steering box. I even installed a rebuilt box from a vendor (not Gary, I wish I would have went that route) and I still have free play going into the box.

I'm debating on the Borgeson box before I replace the control valve, hoses and cylinder.

Yes, I can help you out, I have several in stock and personally fitted one to my '74 coupe. I did it with the car up on jack stands and would not recommend that, use a hoist. I'm in the USA right now and will be on the Borgeson stand for much of the SEMA Show to learn all the new info on their range of products.
