Default Courtesy Lights Not Working With Switch

Just had the dash out of my '73 to install Vintage Air and Auto Meter gauges. When I put the interior back together yesterday, everything works as it should except the headlight switch will not turn on the courtesy lights. The lights do come on when the doors open.

The headlight switch is about a year old and worked the courtesy lights just fine prior to this project. I'm assuming one of the wires connected to the headlight switch isn't making good contact. But, before I go to the trouble of taking the dash apart to get at the headlight switch, is there any other thing I should be looking at first?

Thanks,

DC

The white wire at the headlight switch needs to go to ground to turn on the lights.
The path to ground is an interesting one. This thread might help.

Yep, that thread helps a lot. I don't have to look to know that I no longer have a ground for the switch to turn on the courtesy lights.

During the installation of the Auto Meter gauges, I ran a new ground for all of the gauges and re-purposed the speedo ground for the "brights" LED I installed. I'm going to have to run a ground wire to the headlight switch ground.

Thanks Roger.
