Default Carter replacement fuel pump, return opening size

Hey,
I received my replacement carter pump today (summit couldn't ship a Delco one to Belgium ).
Does this return opening look correct? It's more like a nozzle & almost 2/3 of the full opening is blocked.
Air does come out if you blow into the inlet with the pressure outlet blocked.
Thanks,
Nick

I wouldn't drill it out , you might have "too" much fuel returning to the tank. Just a guess but maybe Carter put the orifice where you can see it instead of inside the pump as Delco did. I have a pic of the Delco I'll see if I can find for you.

Nick, here is the way Delco makes the orifice inside the pump, its aprox .070. I'm no engineer but I don't think even if your pump has 2 orifices ,1 inside and 1 out it would cause a problem. Engineers-is this correct ?
