Default Creative upper radiator mount ideas needed.

I ordered a Dewitt's direct fit the other week, and now I'm trying to figure a clean mounting solution for the top mount. The 80 Vette upper radiator mount has mounting bosses for a fan shroud,...which I will not be running. I see a lot of guys are using the stock upper mounts, but I am looking to elimate the shroud bolt boss, which is part of the 80 stock upper mount.

So I'd like to see pics of what you guys may have done. The radiator I'm having made will be cored with 1 1/4' tubes,...Not sure that will have any affect on the fit. May end up fabricating a plate with the cradles welded under it somehow.

I'm also looking into electric fan options. I was running a single 16 inch Permacool fan, and having no issues except on major hot days and only in dead stopped traffic. Just looking to improve things some.

The shroud brackets are spot welded to the radiators top mounts. Remove the shroud brackets from the top mounts, weld the holes, grind them smooth, prime and paint.

This is what I was going to suggest, if the stock mounts will fit the radiator you are using. If the stock mounts are not wide enough, you will need to fab your own mounts. This is what I needed to make and needed to modify aftermarket isolator cushons.

Those are great!!! But, the average guy is going to have difficulty making those.

I had already drilled the spot welds and removed the shroud boss portion of the upper radiator mounts, and have been using them like that to hold my 31x19 Griffin radiator in. I can clean them up as suggested if no other option is found.

The Dewitt radiator will be a few weeks out yet, they are making mine custom because of the thicker core I wanted, so I won't know for sure if the stock mounts will work until I get the radiator.

Red69,.those mounts are a work of art. Did you fab those, or find a vender/shop to make them?

I had to make them, there were no aftermarket brackets that would work. Mine are designed to mount in the original holes in the radiator support. They use the threaded inserts seen, and s/s button head cap screws and fender washers that look very good. In many things I make, the material comes for the salvage yard. Aluminum is very easy to shape after it has been annealed. If you are forced to make your own, maybe these will give you some ideas. The rubber isolators were ordered from Jeg's and modified with a stone on a rotary drill. This was necessary to properly fit the sharp corners on the aluminum radiator, both top and bottom. Good luck with fitting yours!

I installed the DeWitts rad and their dual Spal fan kit as was able to use the stock brackets. Looks like building brackets for your install is the best way.
