depends on the ratio....i have zz4 and 1.6 roller rockers. no problems here....
if you have a problem, you can takethe cheap route, or the pretty route.
Cheap: use 2 gaskets...no one will even be able to tell.
Pretty: Gm sells a centerbolt to standard style conversion kit so you can use normal valve covers, and from there you can get a set of tall covers, and even the conversion kit will probably raise it enough and you can find a nice set of regular covers.
but like i said, I have no problems
What rockers are you running? I have read that the rockers the come with the GM hot cam kit will fit with no problem. Taller covers are out of the question, They will hit my Super ram runners. One more thing is that 306hp at the rear wheels? 1.5's is what i have.
I don't know what the ZZ4 valve covers look like, but I am running the pro magnum rockers with .589" lift under '89 L98 Firebird valve covers. I had to use two gaskets (I RTV'ed them together) and I had to cut out the upper (as it sits on the head) brace inside the VC, but it works fine with no leaks.
yea corvette0096, thats 306HP at the rear wheels. I dont think youll have a problem with 1.5: roller rockers.....its when you step up to a higher ratio you have problems I think.
The GM 1.6 Roller Rockers will fit under the ZZ4 valve covers with no problem. A friend of mine with centerbolt heads and Crane Gold rockers had to modify the centerbolt valve covers to get the shaft which supports the bolt to fit between adjacent rockers. The GM rockers are tapered and not as wide and the valve cover bolt shafts fit between the rockers just fine.
