Its raining here in Boston so I decided to clean my car up. The finish is only 5 years old but has a slight "sandpaper" feel to it. Paint is very shiney but not smooth. I tried one of the clay products and I am truly amazed at the difference.
I'm very skeptical and seem to buy stuff that just doesn't work. I can honestly say I did not waste my money on this purchase. Now only if there was a market for slightly used car waxes/polishes I'd be able to clean my cellar out. I ordered some Zaino products and I'm hoping they give me the results everyone is raving about.
Re: Just used the "Magic Clay" stuff (tangee-vette)
I just started using Zaino's wax and it's the easiest part in the washing/waxing/polishing process. You just cary around the bar and a spray bottle with water and soap and keep the car moist while you "clay" the car. You do it in small sections and then wipe it dry. Makes the paint feel so much better!
 . What brand was the clay bar that you used? I need to put in an order with Zaino also...spring is here!
Tom
The name brand was Clay Magic...The Original
I couldn't find any other in my area....Meguairs makes one too but the local place here was sold out. I just mailed my check today for Zaino.
You won't go wrong with the Clay Magic. Meguairs is alright to use also, but I would stay away from Zaino's clay. Its not as flexible and is smaller in size. Don't get me wrong I use all Zaino's products on my cars and YES I did throw all the other wax's out. :D

Now you tell me. After I spent my money on it. I'm going to go ahead and try it, since I bought it. I also have a box full of Zaino stuff. Plan on getting started next week, now that school is finally out and I have some time. Besides, I want it to look good for the Cruise-In. :D

Chas.......how long did it take to clay your Vette? Was it an easy process?
Just wondering, as I've been thinking about trying the stuff myself :yesnod:
Rick
I'd say....with beer and potty breaks it took about 2hours. I did one panel at a time....some panels twice. You'll notice that the lube and clay will get dirty. I wiped off the lube, sprayed new stuff on and needed the clay to start again. I ran out of spray so I used the Meguiars Quick Detail spray as a substitute. I know thats what comes in the Meguiar clay kit. I also used about 30 of my cotton garage towels. I'll sneak those into the laundry when the wife isn't looking. :D
