Finally getting the mirror back on the passenger side.
What are some other part numbers for the black plastic spacer, the two i have are 3914599 and 461133.
Neither one fits my mirror base very good, any different numbers out there?
Had the same problem as you, and ended up milling one to reorient my mirrors almost horizontal, painted in body color. Still not perfect but yet better then the black ones. I also think I don't have genuine Corvette mirrors but Firebird or Camaro (if they where different)
PS love your exterior color
Nick
Two things could be going on: your sport mirrors are not Corvette or your gaskets are not Corvette. Check the assembly instruction manual (AIM) for the correct part numbers for each.
The sport mirrors were used on different GM applications. The mirror heads were usually the same, but the bases could be different depending upon the application.
I removed the sport mirrors and have gone back with the stock mirrors.
In 34 years i have had trans am, El camino, and rally sport mirrors on the car.
I purchased a new drivers side mirror and it came with the black plastic seal. All of the plastic seals i have tried are ill fitting or look odd. All the different mirrors had mounting holes that required more holes. Last paint job we filled all the holes in.
dembo, your mirrors look taller than rally sport mirrors. Nice job.
When I bought the 75' new it came with the chrome one pictured, the 75' was the first year they came with the larger head. The passenger side was not an option from factor since I don't remember seeing that when I ordered mine. If you wanted a passenger side mirror the dealer would order and install it for you.
Mine are the same and I could not get it to fit tight so it does move a little. Kinda shakey at the base good luck I tried all kind of shims hard plastic snd rubber
From playing around with the mirrors i did notice the pass side had a wobble to it, that is caused by the base plate hole becoming bigger from trying to over tighten the set screw. I just ordered a new one and that corrected it.
Maymyvetteliveforevr, you are correct that it was an option for a passenger side mirror, took a lot of engineering to get a hole in that channel to place a plate drilled and taped for the mirror mounts.
Thanks again for all the info, time to move on to other projects.
