Need advice on selecting a carb
Which carb has the most vac ports for power brakes, PCV etc
And easiest linkage/choke hook ups?
If you want to switch, it should be the most painless.
That one above is mechanical secondaries. I meant to link this one- http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HLY-0-9895/

It's the truth, man. Freshen up that carb, and learn to tune it. If you want to get an aftermarket intake, get one with a spreadbore pattern, like an edelbrock 2101. You can find 'em on ebay for, like, 50 bucks all day long.

Thanks for the inputs!

2701 would work if you go w/ the 1850.

I don't know where you got this idea from, but it NOT TRUE! One of the problems with a forum like this is that anyone can and will post, weather they actually know what they are talking about or not. Sorry to flame you buddy, but I could not let this one go.

I live "real world" working on hotrods all the time I know what works and what don't, unlike you guys who have to rely on Eisenstein theory write ups.

Big fan of Holleys here but gotta say the Qjet is a fantastic carb if you know how to work on them.
If your car is stock Id keep the Qjet. They can be made to perform well on built motors, too.
I would take a good Q-Jet core and have it rebuilt and set up for your engine combination. It's the best street / strip carb out there in my opinion.Just go to a nostalgia Muscle car shoot-out and watch a Buick GS Stage I or an Olds 442 W-30, both with Q-Jets, smoke a LS-6 Chevelle.
Q-Jet set up right is a thing of wonder IMHO.

On the other hand.........
SOME people, when confronted with a problem to solve, base all of their decisions on theory, and then scratch their heads and wonder why it didn't work in the real world.
The best way lies right about in the middle. Real world experience backed up with knowledge of theory is a tough combo to beat. Too far in either direction lies madness.
TimH, you are so narrow minded sometimes, why don't you try to look at things from another's point of view sometimes? You might be surprised at what you can learn if you keep an open mind.
Or, you can stay the way you are now, it's a free country. Personally, I kinda get a kick out of most of your posts. You definitely "Calls 'em like ya sees 'em", and there is something to be admired about that in this day and age!

The question regarding Q-Jet vs. other carbs has been asked-and-answered many times - a search will provide all the information required to make an informed decision.

Well I drove my car 4 hours last night without a break down, over heating, clanging or banging in bumper to bumper traffic with a clutch.
I must know something about cars?
