A quick question about poly bushings. When they are installed, I hear they are supposed to be lubed so they don't squeak. Can I use a regular wheel bearing grease for this, or do I need something special such as a synthetic grease? If so, is that something I can get at the local chop shop?? (auto parts store) I ordered the kit from Vette Brakes with sleeves and I don't remember getting any type of grease at all. Any tips are appreciated also!!
My sugg. are to find a "silicon spray" or a "graphite" based lubricant. :yesnod:
*My poly bushings don't have any lubricant (or if it did - it's gone now)...so you don't have to lubricate them.... yeah, they'll -squeek- a little but it's not too bad....I never hear mine on the road - only when I go up my driveway is the squeek audible. :D
My poly bushings came with several tubes of "Tef-Cone" lube, a teflon-silicone compound. The idea, as I understand it, is to lube them so they won't squeak until they get broken in. From that point on, the graphite that is mixed into the polyurethane material should keep squeaks to a minimum.
BTW, I have purchased a similar teflon-silicone lubricant at Pep Boys, but I can't recall the brand name at the moment... (sorry, I'm having a "senior" kind of morning... )

speaking of bushings I bought the complete energy suspensions kit and did the drag link but the A-arms seem hard plus I want to powder coat the A-arms when they are off. Local shop wants $2000.00 to do the whole thing. Any idea of what a good estimate should run?
A-arms removed and bushings installed.
Tranny bushing
Rear suspension bushings
$2000, someones trying to bend you over the bench, don't take it. It took me around 8 or 9 hours to do the front suspension bushings and I was taking my time.
Okay TJKirby82CE if they remove sandblast and powder coat/ spray and install were talking outsourcing to a paint shop and my Vette on their lift for a week minumum so he cannot use his lift for other customers, thats were the 2000 comes in. Plus everything will be cleaned and put back "as new" lot of labor and time there. Still 2K is alot.

I agree 2k is alot, that is why I did it myself. But 3 hours...ya right.-Travis
I'd consider it but my worries is that 3K paint job that took three times to get right. I lose control of the spring and worse case scenerio it shoots thru the fender.
YOU CAN DO IT. The front end is no problem at all. I just finished mine, first time on any car and it did take time but it was straight foward. If you are worried about the coil go to harbor freight and buy a coil spring compressor ...I think about $20, thats what I did. If you think you will tackle it post questions here or e-mail me, I will be glad to help you out. Maybe just do the front yourself and then see how you feel about trying the rear.
