OT--98 sonoma..surging
have this issue of my truck surging when i stop... it's so bad that it causes my truck to stall and this didn't start happening until my transmission was replaced 2 years ago... the issue is worse now so i think i might have narrowed it down to either the egr valve or the rubber hose that the shop hacked in instead of running my trans hard line to the radiator..... if it the rubber hose, i think i might be compressing on itself and cause it to stall.... when i put the truck in neutral it doesn't do it..... curious if it could be the cat.convertor also... any ideas

the check engine light has been on for 5 years.... i disconnect the battery for 30 min then reconnect and the light is gone... but when i drive the truck and it surges then it comes back on.....truck has 230,000 on it and is a 4cyl... trying to keep it on the road till the spring...
