Default Another intake manifold gasket question

I know the correct procedure is to use gascacinc on the manifold gaskets to hold it in place and rtv sealer around the water jackets.

My problem is that i dont have gascacinch nor do i have time tonight to buy some but want to install the manifold tonight.

Can i just use the rtv around the water jackets and not use anything on the rest of the gasket or is the gascacinch are sealer as well and would therefore be required.

Also i want to plug the heater hoses.

What size plugs will i need to screw into the manifold and the waterpump. I beleive i can get them form the local hardware.

Thanks Chris

You can use a very little amount of RTV on both sides of the gasket at the water ports, just enough to wet the gasket, and approx a 3/8" thick bead at the ends.
The heater ports are 1/2" NPT. I always use brass plugs with hex heads.
I know you use different pipe thread specs over there, but I don't know if they are interchangeable in that size.

Default Caution!

Chris and 69mic,

Australian road regulations require that ALL cars must be fitted with an operative heater/demister. You would be well advised to do some research before you make this step.
