Backstory: took original motor out of '76. Replaced it with a later model block. The original motor had the oil pressure sending unit down near the oil filter. The newer block has it up by the distributor and its mechanical.
M question, what replacement unit should I get to replace the one near the distributor to work with the stock '76 gauge?
If you have to plumb the sending unit to get it away from the dist. do not use brass tubing. It will fracture from the weight of the sending unit.
I had mine installed with a short brass nipple and a 45 degree fitting and developed a severe oil leak when the brass nipple cracked at the block.
I went to a brass coupling, which is considerably thicker, and the 45 deg. fitting and no more problems.
Thanks for the replies. I did just what you said with the brass piping from Home Depot. I am only concerned about the 2" pipe I put on it to get it away from the manifold. Hopefully it won't crack like stated above!
