You have a Buick (400 and 430 engines) starter, but you show two different date codes. 6F3 would be June 3rd, 1966 (for a very early 1967 model), and 7H8 would be August 8th, 1967 (for a very early 1968 model).
Can you post a picture? I've never seen a starter with TWO date codes!

you have a case from almost anything as the starter is a rebuilt apparently with a BB nose....rebuilders dont match parts by numbers.....the same case could be used on most all of the GM engines by merely selecting the correct nose......
Hi, starters , I just purchased a corvette starter # 1998217 with the date code 9G23 ?. AND SAW ANOTHER ONE WITH THE SAME PART # 1998217 WITH DATE CODE 1B94 ? CAN YOU HELP . THANKS PAT...
Pat, the 1998217 starter was used in 1979, 1980 and 1981. Yours is dated July 23rd, 1979 and the other one is dated February of 1981, but check the day ("94"). Probably "04"?
