Replacing 4 speed Rear Seal

G'day You'all,
Can you replace the rear seal in an M21 4 speed gearbox without removing the motor and gearbox?

Yeh

The yoke can be pulled out when the drive shaft is removed. Inspect the yoke for wear.
Draining the tranny oil before yoke removal is recommended

But first remember a seal, generally, does not just fail all by itself. Usually, the bearing runout becomes excessive first, due to one or some variety of factors, and then the seal is unable to cope with it. Inspect the Ujoints, rear bearing, driveshaft balance and such while you have it apart. Or maybe the transmission was just overful.
