I'm working on my brakes tonight and need ideas of what to look for. My brakes recently started pulling hard to the left. I previously replaced everything in my brake system except proportioning valve/switch and booster. New SS brake lines, remanf SS calipers w/ O-rings, new rotors, new pads. Shimmed runout on front rotors to .003 or less. Everything was working great for past two years . . . would stop on a dime and straight. Then I noticed brakes pulling left. Really noticed it last time I drove on interstate and did some violent lane changes when braking to exit interstate -- still need to clean the brown marks that I left on the seat. It's been parked since then.
I'm bleeding entire brake system and inspecting the right front pads very closely. Is there anything else I should look for? My pedal is firm, so I'm not really sure what is causing this issue, but I'm not driving again until I can figure this out. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Maybe your brakes are OK and you have a suspension issue? Missing contol arm shims in the front, or bad trailing arm bushings in the rear can cause strange handling issues under braking...
Thanks for the ideas. I'll double check the front suspension, but everything is new on suspension -- front and rear. I'll make sure nothing has loosened up.
When my car started pulling hard to the right under braking, I had it checked out and was told it was the front tire delaminating. New front rubber and no more pulling. Just something else to check out.
RF Brake hose may be colasped and only the LF caliper is working thus pulling the car to the left when braking.
That is exactly how it feels. I did rebleed just the front brakes a few weeks ago and fluid was moving. I have new braided steel lines, but will recheck that.

Got new rubber too. It feels exactly like VanSteel suggested -- like the front right calipers are not even working. But fluid was passing okay when I bleed them.
My understanding is that on my '76, the "proportioning valve" is really a switch and does not impact bias between sides of car or front to rear. Is that a true statement? You only have to center so brake light will not come on?
Thanks for all the ideas. Good news is that the brakes are fine. Bad news is that one of the bolts on the end of the shaft for the lower control arm is missing. That would explain the violent behavior when braking. I got real lucky this time . . . will be checking all suspension bolts as a part of my winter projects every year from now on. I have poly bushing and have heard that some people have had problems with the bolts backing out. I'm pretty sure I used HD thread locker on the bolts, but will recheck from now on. Thanks again for the ideas . . . that save me a lot of effort finding issue. Now I just have to find another cup washer for the bushing.
