Bolt size for 82 CFI manifold
Anyone know the bolt size for the 82 CFI manifold? I need the bolts that hold the upper section to the lower. I bought a complete CFI set up but the two manifold pieces were apart with no bolts. I don't want to take a bolt out of my 82 to check. Also, are the gaskets readily available from a parts chain? Thanks.
http://www.drivewire.com/vehicle/198...fold-bolt-set/.they have the size listed .most do not use the gaskets .they use one of the many kinds of gasket makers out of a tube .the permatex holds up better than the gaskets.
Okay, my top plate bolts are missing as well on my spare, but I used the bolts that go thru the TBs on the outer edges to check thread size. I discovered something. There are two different thread sizes on the top plate bolts. Gonna do more research and let you know what I find out.
Okay, the larger holes are for the mounting studs, I assume you have those still? If not, same thread pitch as regular intake manifold bolts. The other ones are 1/2" hex head, with the threaded part 7/8" long, look to be about the same pitch as the 9/16" intake manifold bolts.
I hope that makes sense, lol.
Okay, more info...
Okay, the sizes I listed above are the hex head sizes, not the actual threaded part. I found this link which talks at length about installing crossfire manifolds and top plates:
It also states the size of the smaller bolts used as 5/16 UNC, so that gives you a thread pitch area to start from. I do know, as stated earlier, that the hex heads on those smaller bolts are 1/2".

Drawmain - I'll have to check and see if I have the mounting studs. This unit came with a big box of parts I bought so all I really know for sure is the two pieces have been separated and no bolts. The TBI's and everything else are still attached to the top half.
The two outside bolts on the TB's pass thru the TB's and thread into the plenum to hold on the top as well, same thread pitch. I can take pics if you need them. I did find a couple of the top plate bolts, and have both TB bolts. I don't have the studs.
