Default PS Control Valve Rebuild....leaking

My first attempt at rebuilding the PS control valve, I tore the lip seal.
So tried again and took alot of care and was sure that I did not tear it this time...everything went back together just fine.

Now it is leaking out the dust cap....

I followed the instructions and pictures.....is there something not in there that I did wrong??

Can't wait to take everything apart again...NOT

Leaking out the dust cap leads me to one of the o rings or a damaged piston in the body of the valve.

When I installed the Or rings, I made sure they were not twisted..but???

The piston looked fine...so did the bore...but again???

I just got another seal kit and will replace everything....again...

I used the instructions from CSSBINC.COM.

Continually leaking PS parts finally led me to scrap that OEM setup and install the Steeroids power R&P. I'm glad I did.

There may be enough wear on the bore of the valve to allow fluid to leak past. I will most likely end up replacing my stock system in favor of a rack system or the Borgeson system soon. Have to build up funds first

Yep....installing the Steeroid system would sure take care of the leaking problem....but a new valve is alot cheaper....not as nice though. I just had the steering box rebuilt so I will not be going that route.

Thanks to all.

I re-read the rebuild instructions and on one page it states to push the piston out in this direction only.....the other direction has a 97% chance of damaging the piston/bore.

Soooo.....I am thinking that I probably removed the piston out the wrong end and damaged something...hence why it is leaking out the dust cap.

Anyone know exactly why damage occurs if piston is removed in this direction as opposed to the other direction?

Anyone have any experience with the rebuilt control valves available....or is it best to just get a new one?
